Here it is the first of May already! Time for another UFO challenge. This month I choose to work on a set of dragon eggs I am making using instructions designed by the incredible sculptor Julianne Sizemore. I don't even remember when I started these... it's been years.
They don't look like much now, but watch this space..
My other project, and one that has entirely captured my attention and my enthusiasm this week is a fairy figure I designed to go with a set of wings I purchased from My Wycked Ways, an absolutely fabulous web shop that carries the most wonderful supplies. She will get her skin today, and then I can begin on her costume.
I know the ears are a little "out there", but I wanted something different. It will be interesting to see how they work with her wig when I get that far.
She will be holding this fairy lantern I made at the Iowa Dollmaker's Retreat last fall - I'm so happy to have finally found a use for it.
I love getting on a roll like this. Makes it extra hard to go to work some days though. Oh well, I work to afford more art supplies,so it's all good.

i love the ears :D
ohhh.... I'll be watching with delight and anticipation. Is her "skin" going to be fabric over the batting areas? I so love to see the progression pics of any dolls especially...I like to know what's under there ya know? Probably because I've not seen many except my own and would like to see more of the underpinnings of many a doll.
I wish I could get my forward roll going....I gave up on heads after the 6th and somebody remarked how "alien they still looked. Not in a nasty way...you know...he was just sayin'...but, I kind of lost interest for a bit. However... I do have a beautiful set of breasts now Judi! well...not my own, you understand...the dolls !! I'll send you a pic..happy with what I managed to accomplish there.
Oh she's gonna be cute.
WOW! I really love seeing the 'in progress' shots. Was the batting used all over the doll before you sculpted over it? She's going to be amazing!
I am glad to see that you are finishing up these projects, I look foward to them both! The doll is fabulous already!!
Oh Judi! She's going to be great I can tell already! I can't wait to see how you costume her. You know i'll be checking back to see whats hatching! hee hee

I think this fairy is going to be awsome! Love the figure and the pose. Will be waiting for it to be finished
oooo, can't wait to see these wips completed! I'm in the process of making a doll using methods similar to yours. Unfortunately it was my first time using super sculpy and the feet are a bit burnt (hopefully can save them with some paint) and one of the hands broke, so will need to get on the case of them again and your post has inspired me to do just that. Thankfully the head came out pretty well, although the tips of the ears are burnt, but I think I can live with that. Thanks for the boost to get on the case of my doll again.
I will keep a look out for progress :)

Can't wait to see what wonderful creation you make with the Dragon Eggs. The fairy will be great I am sure holding that lovely lantern.
I am so anxious to watch this fairy come alive. She is already captivating! And that little lantern will be perfect for her.
My she looks pretty. Can't wait to see her finished!
