Photo of the Week - March 30

I had looked forward to photographing the sights in and around Lincoln City last week, but between the fog and the rain, it was too wet to risk taking out my "real" camera. We did manage to bundle up and get one good walk on the beach, so I put my old point-and-shoot in my pocket before we left. Even though the breathtaking panoramic views were nearly completely obscured, there was still plenty to see in the details.

I love to collect shells on the beach, but these mussels were all I found this trip.

Oregon's coast is made up mostly of volcanic rock. These ancient lava flows are everywhere, forming tide pools all up and down the beach.

Let's see... I see sea anemones, mussels, barnacles... I didn't notice any shrimp or crabs this day, but you never know what life you will find in these pools.

This massive sea star looks well fed. I've never seen such a pretty red one before.

I didn't draw this, but I couldn't resist taking a photo as I walked along with my own Jake. I "heart" him too, LOL.

We got back to the suite to find this "Psycho Crazy Gull" trying to terrorize the girls into giving him some food. He and a buddy were actually pecking on the window to get their attention. Too bad seagulls can't read -- the sign he's standing on reads "Thank you for not feeding the seagulls."

I know, I know... I am WAY too easily entertained.

I just love your photos. I would have been very entertained!! The starfish is grand and I love the sandpainting photo. Wow, I live on the gulf and never see a tide pool. Silly gull but great photo.

Wonderful photos, Judi!! I particularly love the ones of the starfish and the seagull. It would have been very dificult for me not to sneak him a snack. I wish we had tidepools like that on our coast. Well, we may well have them butI've never seen any in the areas I visit on the coast.

Judi, those are fantastic photos! Leave it to you to find really interesting things to photograph even in crappy weather.

That starfish was amazing- have never seen a red one before. And the picture of the gull on the sign is hilarious!

I really love that photo of the birds diving into the water.

Lovely photos, Judith!
Love the red starfish and the comment about the seagull too funny. They must be like our "Dumb Doves" that we have here in Arizona. LOL

Lovely collection of beach photos, Judi. I especially enjoyed seeing a live starfish, and the birds in the surf was a great shot. A vacation is never dull when you can come home with photos like this.

My favorite has to be the Gull standing on the sign saying don't feed him, yet he's begging for a hand out. Too funny!

Your photos make me want to hop in the car & dash over to Neskowin!!
The sea gull photo reminds me of one we took when my daugher (about 1) was climbing on a 'keep off the grass' sign!!

Sounds like a delightful vacation :) I just visited a nearby dairy for some delish fresh milk & yogurt . . . yum!
