First day of summer

My latest doll is so cool...! Unfortunately, she is also entered in a challenge so I can't share a photo of her until after the voting. I don't want to go any longer without posting though, so...

Instead I will share this photo of one of my favorite "dolls", my youngest daughter, who celebrated her 16th birthday yesterday. I remembered gifts, a card, and a cake... unfortunately I forgot candles! In order to create a more festive photo, I want out and cut 16 roses from my garden for a bouquet for the table. I was annoyed with myself at the time, but now I am really pleased...

I wish flowers would bloom around *my* birthday, LOL!

I started knitting on a new sweater this week. Unfortunately, photos of a knitting work-in-progress all look like used grocery bags; still, here it is! It's working up quickly in a textured cotton yarn... This one is "Madeline" from White Lies Designs. I hope it looks as pretty on me as it does in the photo on the pattern!

I am home for the weekend, so my plan is to FIRMLY ESTABLISH a final pose for my Klimt doll, stitch her into position, and begin painting. I have been circling her for days, avoiding making a final decision, because she is just such a wonderful figure... I want her to be right. No more waffling though -- I WILL finish this doll!

Judi, I would come visit you if I was a traveler! I am one of those un-adventureous types that always wants to be home each night in my own little bed-LOL! That's why I don't go to conferences or anywhere.

I just lucked out that Sherry and Jeff were teaching in Florida and they could stay with us on their way home. It was so much fun! You'll have to plan a workshop or something to tempt Sherry out to your area.

Those roses and cake are gorgeous, but not as lovely as your daughter. What a beautiful profile she has! And that sweater is going to be gorgeous. You and Mary are going to be wearing wonderful sweaters this winter!

First of all, HAPPY BIRTHDAY (a wee bit late) to that incredibly beautiful daughter! Judi, BOTH your daughters are so fresh-faced and sweet looking! You know - 'girl-next-door' types! I think there is NOTHING prettier! Second, my friend, I'm sorry to say that your knitted piece will NOT look as good on you as it does in the pattern photo. It will look INFINITELY BETTER because YOU are so pretty and the model will enhance the garment! I can't wait until you are able to show your doll! How much longer? Is it time yet? Huh, huh, huh? How about NOW? LOL! Okay - I'll be patient. Sort of. Maybe. If I HAVE to be ...

I need to take lessons from Kai on how to leave lovely comments! What a birthday cake - it would have just been ruined with candles anyway! Lovely flowers - lovelier daughter!!!

Can't wait to see your mysterious new challenge creation. In the meantime, however, your daughter-creation is lovely, and so is that cake!

Thanks for sharing your beautiful artwork!
